Blake Saint David's Quick Interview

Quick Questions for the rapper, songwriter, actor extraordinaire Blake Saint David

Prepared by Jay

Interview (2020)

So, Blake Saint David, let’s start with the basics

  1. How old are you

20

  1. What do you identify as? What are your pronouns?

I’m non binary. They/them pronouns only please

  1. What city/state do you rep? Do you plan on leaving ever? Chicago.

I’m moving to Atlanta to start my family

  1. How did you come up with the name Blake Saint David & did you legally change your name to Blake? No clue; and yes but I don’t like to discuss this stuff publicly

Your Music

  1. What was the first solo song that you ever released for the public to hear?

I wish I could remember. I’m sure I sampled Spider-Man though

  1. How would you describe the music you currently create?

RnB and Hip Hop mix, and a lil experimentation.

  1. You’re someone who has been releasing (and deleting) music almost nonstop since the beginning of the year. You’re pretty consistent. Do you ever get writer’s block? How long does it typically take you to create one song fully? Why do you delete so many songs? How does it feel to release music to the world (does it make you nervous etc.)? And could you describe your creative process?

I don’t write, so I never get writer's block. It usually takes me 30 mins to an hour to finish a song. I usually record the vocals and produce around that.

  1. You just released the love song of the year, “Every Day.” Are we getting a video out of it? Who is it about? What’s harder to make, love songs or sad/angry songs like Don’t Worry?

No video, but that song was for my fiancée. Love songs are way easier to make because it’s the easiest feeling to pin down

Deep, I guess

  1. It’s pride month in the midst of protesting and the Black Lives Matter Movement. How does it feel being a black member of the lgbtqia+ during these times? Do you have any words for musicians during this time/opinions on whether or not music should still be released?

If you’re black and gay, keep releasing music. It’s literally your time.

  1. What is your most personal song & why?

I honestly don’t release personal songs like that. I’m waiting till I’m famous and no one judges me.

Last Chill questions

What do you usually use to produce your music?

(Ablteon, Fl…) FL

What was your favorite venue to perform at? How does it feel being on stage?

SubT. It feels good if people come to see you though.

What color do you think your music today feels like?

Like olive green and bright orange

What is it with you and Spiderman?

Spider-Man is what everyone should strive to be. He does good no matter what.

Anything in the works for The Creative Mansion-together?-any collabs with chicago artists on the come up?

I make music with the mansion only. I have collaboration issues lol

Best one liner you ever threw out?

U can’t be a pimp if u get owned like a hoe

Can you actually speak French like (static) the Ad made last year, suggests?

I could when I released that ad haha

Any final thought or words you would like to add

Not really, other than with great power comes great responsibility
